Is this text to speech free?
Yes. Paste up to 500 characters at a time and listen, with no account. HoverSpeech for Mac is free too: sign in once with a free RambleProof account, then select text in any app and tap one key.
Which voices can I try?
Heart, Bella, Emma and Puck. Heart is the natural voice in HoverSpeech for Mac (a one-time download inside the app), and the app can also use the voices that come with macOS. Bella, Emma and Puck are only on this page.
What happens to the words I paste?
They go to our own speech server, which turns them into audio and sends it back. The server does not record the text from this page. It keeps the audio it makes for at most four hours, so a repeated line plays sooner. Please do not paste anything private. The clips you make stay in this browser tab until you close it. We count how the demo is used, such as the voice and the length, never the words. In the Mac app your words never leave your computer. Read the details.
Why does a new line take a few seconds?
Everyone trying this page shares one speech server, so a new line can wait its turn, and the first line after a quiet spell takes longer. The sample plays at once because it is already recorded. The Mac app runs the voice on your computer, so it never waits in line.
Can I download the audio?
Yes. Once a line has played, Download audio saves it as an MP3. Your recent clips are listed under the bar until you close the tab.
What do I need for the Mac app?
A Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 26 or later. HoverSpeech is not available for Windows, iPhone or Android.
