Try it with your own words

Some things are easier to hear than to read. Select a long email, an article, or an answer from your AI assistant, and tap one key. A natural voice reads it to you, right on your Mac. Speed it up when you are skimming. Jump back ten seconds when you miss something. And your text never leaves your computer.

Your words stay on your Mac.

The built-in voices run on your computer, so the text you read is never uploaded. If you add a cloud voice of your own in Settings, text read with that voice goes to the service you chose. HoverSpeech sends daily counts only, never your text, history or pronunciations.

Questions

Is HoverSpeech free?

Yes. It is free to download and use. You sign in once with a free RambleProof account.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After you sign in once, reading works with no connection. The voices run on your Mac.

Which voices can I use?

The voices already on your Mac, in many languages, and Heart, a natural English voice you can download inside the app. Heart uses about 525 MB of memory while it is loaded.

Where does it work?

Wherever you can select text: browsers, mail, documents, notes and AI chats. You allow Accessibility access once so it can read your selection.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The text you read stays on your Mac. HoverSpeech sends daily counts only, such as how many reads you started and how many minutes you listened.

What does it need?

A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.

What are the limits of this first release?

One natural voice, in English. Unusual numbers, symbols and currency ranges can sound wrong. Code copied from a web page may be read as prose. A selection inside Spotlight or Raycast may read the app behind it instead.

Something not working? In Settings, open Advanced, use Copy diagnostics and email hello@rambleproof.com. Diagnostics never contain the text you read.

Give your eyes a break.
